Acabo de actualizar al 4.3 solo con la esperanza de que activara la función de Hotspot (tengo un iPhone 4 sin desbloquear de Movistar), pero no aparece en los settings.
Tengo que actualizar los settings del carrier también?
Hay alguna otra opción para compartir el internet del fono con la compu?
No me interesa jailbrakear.

Estas funcionalidades dependen del carrier. Pregunté en Claro varias veces y en su momento me dijeron: ¿¿¿Tete qué??? - Tethering - repetí.
La cosa no mejora... ahora le tengo que preguntar a los representantes por el "Hot Spot" (LOL)
El que quiera Hotspot con carriers Uruguayos va a tener que hacer JB.
El tema de las telefónicas y el ancho de banda es complicado. Incluso hoy Movistar no tienen modems 3G con tarifa plana, todos son con límite. Es la triste realidad del tercer mundo, pero es así.
Tenés un iPhone con conexión a internet, pero solo lo podés usar con el iPhone, lo cual quiere decir que aunque te cobren caro, están re-holgados con el consumo que tenés, pero no te pueden dar el tethering, ni a los modem los pueden dejar sin tope, porque según dicen "la gente los usa para bajar películas y se consumen todo el ancho de banda".
Es el eterno problema de que el ancho de banda que te ofrecen es real si el resto de Montevideo no está conectado, sino... ajo y agua... (a joderse y aguantarse)

Al parecer, con la introducción de 4.3 y Hotspot los carriers pueden detectar cuando un dispositivo está haciendo tethering. Usuarios de MyWi y TetherMe reportan lo siguiente:

HotSpot no solo comparte internet, también localización! Ejemplo: Se podría utilizar el iPad Wi-Fi only en conjunto con Hotspot y obtener datos exactos de geolocalización 
Otro motivo para comprar el iPad 2 Wi-Fi only!

Update: AT&T reached out to us and, yes, this is pretty much all there is to the tale: the "small number of smartphone customers who use their devices for tethering but aren't on our required tethering plan," are being contacted to either cease and desist or prepare to start paying for the service. No word yet on how many customers have been contacted, but it does seem that they're all using iPhones.
